Introduction: Brain metastases represent the most common malignant brain tumors, affecting 20-40% of cancer patients. This article examines efficacy in toto encephalic radiotherapy treatment these metastases. Historically, before advent radiotherapy, prognosis for was poor, with a median survival one month. In has played crucial role improving and local control lesions. The aim this study to analyze epidemiological, clinical therapeutic characteristics patients treated by method. Material Method: prospective descriptive included total (TER) between January April 2021. Inclusion criteria were related diagnosis exclusive use radiotherapy. Data collected from medical records analyzed using Microsoft Excel. Quantitative qualitative data processed provide information on population. A case of cervical (C) spinal intramedullary metastasis and multiple small brain metastases from papillary thyroid carcinoma was presented. Spinal metastasis caused posterior neck and left shoulder pain, dysesthesia in both legs, and motor weakness in both legs and left arm, though the brain metastases were asymptomatic. Both the spinal and brain metastases were successfully treated by frameles...

Brain metastases: fractionated whole-brain radiotherapy.

Brain metastases are the most common malignant adult intracranial tumors, occurring in approximately 10-30% of cancer patients, and generally lead to a poor prognosis. The incidence has been steadily rising, likely due to longer survival from newer systemic therapies and increased utilization of magnetic resonance imaging. Historically, whole-brain radiotherapy has been a standard of care for t...

A Case of Brain Metastases from Breast Cancer Treated with Whole-Brain Radiotherapy and Eribulin Mesylate

Patients with triple receptor-negative breast cancer often develop aggressive metastatic disease, which also might involve the brain. In many cases, systemic and local treatment is needed. It is important to consider the toxicity of chemo- and radiotherapy, especially when newly approved drugs become available. Randomised studies leading to drug approval often exclude patients with newly diagno...

Repeated Stereotactic Radiosurgery in Brain Metastases: A Case Report

The aims of radiation therapy of brain metastases include maintaining neurocognitive function and control of disease and, hopefully, improvement of survival. We present a case report with a very long survival in which the role of repeated stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) was investigated for a patient with a recurrent brain metastasis from non-small cell lung cancer in the same area. Stereotacti...

Dosimetric comparison of two different whole brain radiotherapy techniques in patients with brain metastases: How to decrease lens dose?

Background: Palliative whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) has been the standard treatment for brain metastases. Ionizing radiation is known to be one of the most potent cataractogenic agents. We aimed to evaluate two different radiotherapy techniques with respect to the doses received by the organs at risk (OAR) in patients with brain metastasis who undergone WBRT. Materials and Methods: Ten conse...
